It takes more than one tour to discover Le Marais, but it is right to start along the River Bank, flooded in the Medival times, where marshes became a residential area, thus called "Le Marais"

Highlights of this first Marais Tour :

  • Hôtel de Sens, one of the first example of the famous Parisian "hôtel particulier",

  • The incredible Saint Gervais Church, built over a Roman cimetery,

  • The Medival City Wall and the remains of Charles V's palace (XIVth Century)

  • Hôtel de Mayenne and  Hôtel de Sully, perfect witnesses of Le Marais transformations through the centuries

  • The famous Place des Vosges, one of the Parisian Royal Squares, home of many celebrites,

  • Tour will end by rue Saint Antoine, a former Roman road, famous for its popular cafes and food stores.
